My top 5 summer reads

The sun is shining and I now have my own garden so the majority of my spare time is spent lounging outside reading as many books as I can. There are so many good books out there at the moment and I’m not going to rest until I’ve read them all. My genre of choice is psychological thriller, there is nothing more exciting than a shocking twist. So I thought I’d share with you my top 5 summer reads. Get yourself ordering for the last four weeks of summer.

1. Big Little Lies

I absolutely loved this book, the storyline was gripping and kept me guessing throughout. A lot of the time when I’m reading a book, I find myself getting super close to the truth or the twist, ruining it for myself before I’ve even got to the end of the book. What sets this book apart from the rest is I never once got close. The climax was chilling and sipping a cocktail in Spain and I was all the way in the arctic freezing my boobs off (that’s how far!) It has also been made into a tv series which is incredible!

2. The Roanoke Girls

At the start I 100% wanted to be a Roanoke girl but then by the end…not so much. I was able to really connect with the main character Lane and I was able to visualise all the characters as if I’d seen them down the pub last week. If you only have time to read one of these 5, I’d say this is the one to go for.

3. In the dark dark wood

I loved this book as it was so easy to read and once I picked this one up, I couldn’t put it back down. The reason I’ve given it a lower rating compared to the others is the storyline became a little bit predictable.

4. Not that kinda girl

Firstly, who would give Lena Dunham anything lower than 5 star?! She is pure 5 star. I know many of you will have already read this but I was late to the game with Girls (A TV show produced by Lena) so I didn’t discover how brilliant Lena was until earlier this year. Oops. If you haven’t already, be sure to check her out!

5. The Collector

If you often have nightmares about a man kidnapping you and locking you in his cellar, this isn’t for you. I have to say this book is sensational and incredibly well written. My heart was beating from start to finish. One not to be ignored.
